Imagine this scenario. You live in a large apartment building. You have a shelf set you can't use because all the shelves have a 30 degree slant. It was made for a different building where the area designated for shelving has a slanted floor. One of the other tenants has apparently gone insane and taken it upon himself to renovate the building. The building manager apparently supports this, as the tenant has the keys to everything. Most days you can hear him hammering and cursing away somewhere in the building. After several months of this, a large poster appears on the bulletin board in the lobby, detailing all the changes that have occurred in the last months. The crazy tenant apparently wrote up the notes, and probably did at least some of it. Crazy guy knows that most tenants have an unusable shelf set like yours, because many tenants came from the other building, and some maintain residence in both. So one day, crazy guy puts a post on the bulletin board offering to fix up the unusable shelf sets if somebody will cover half the cost of labor. No response. A few months later, he shows up to a special interest group for people who make those shelf sets, points out the problems being caused by the building and repeats the offer. Shit goes downhill from there.
